I study the role of urban organizations in housing and homelessness.
I'm a Ph.D candidate at UCLA in the Department of Sociology whose research examines how organizations— public, for-profit, and nonprofit—shape housing and homelessness. As a qualitative researcher, I primarily use in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. My dissertation work, supported by the American Sociological Association and the John Randolph and Dora Haynes Foundation, examines how organizational form, decisionmaking, and mission shape affordable housing development in Los Angeles County. In addition to research, I am passionate about undergraduate education and introducing students to research in the social sciences.
